why dont u go down to their showroom at ps or marina to give it a try? personally i feel it is reasonably priced and sound decent for a 2.0

of cos sia allow earphones and mp3 devices for tat matter, any other airlines too u just have to off it when taking off and landing. i use iem w airline adaptor for the inflight entertainment system can block out aircraft noise

i notice a lot of ppl recommending studio monitor types of bookshelves like alesis or even esi, such types may not be appealing to most ppl. actually it really boils down to the media u using and the purpose of usage. most ppl dont find it enjoyable to listen to studio monitors, they find it too clinical almost harsh, showing so much detail - exposing weaknesses in their compressed music (mp3) incidentally most ppl find such speakers lacking in bass. this is evident in some boards where new esi owners expressed slight disapptments at bass and want to add a esi sw8000 subwoofer. i guess most of us grow up spoilt by sony type of low end consumer speakers which altered our perception of music - particularly their boomy bass which mislead our sense that its really deep bass which is bloaty and muddy i suggest go audition yrself personally to see which speaker really appeal u and esp to yr wife. incidentally if really going for esi, why not consider m-audio, most of its lines are virtually esi clone :X

i do not think pc hardware prices are lower in us...esp hdds. chk the series and model too. us models are seldom as update as sg. price wise- mostly also lower, evident from the hordes of angmohs shopping in simlim. eg... just sometime ago i got a fren studying in us wanted to replace hdd from his ext usb case, he looked thru all the radioshack type of shops at the mean time i was hunting a new hdd in sg, we all looking at seagate 300gb hdds, in the end i settled for a seagate barracuda 7200.10 but he only manage to get a 7200.8 and at least S$50 more than me note - mostly not everything cheaper in sg though how i wish i can get earphones in sg at us prices

i'm really v interested in im716 seem to be a budget yet midrange fones my only 2 concerns are impedance will it drain my ipod battery faster given its so hard to drive and the discomforting earbuds i want something comfy like ep630 dont even feel it at all sigh...seems like i have to look else where now

i dont think its external ear discomfort due to pads rather its internal in my ear... though i am using the stock one which is not exactly comfortable, its acceptable to me. i listen mainly to rock music with it i find it... overly bright and harsh at time...scould be that giving me fatigue? incidentally i prefer my hd25 over ms1, its a pair of curiously interesting cans... its natural to me yet with a somewhat exciting bass component to it, at best i can describe is that its not neutral, not gd as reference but its definitely a fun pair of cans now if only ms1 is as comfortable i think it can give the pricy hd25 a gd run for its money

not interested in anything above 2.1 not intending to use it to watch dvd or play game so dont see pt of surround just using it mainly for music atp 3.....i afraid its going to be boomy again
