  1. If not wrong should be region of $1k odd, to be exact not sure. Just find that Cambridge Audio & the prices rather commercialized. At this kinda region pricing, many other choices as well.
  2. Give or take if your HD-650 cost 6xx & the cable change cost you 25% or more than is the equation balance with our overall setup?
  3. Yes indeed that City Electronics is run by the family (from father to daughters) In fact they have been in this business for more than 12-15 yrs or more.
  4. The Grado SR-60 is very easy to drive even w/o any amplification like your LD Mk-ll. I'd the similar Grado except is already more than 8 yrs old. When you drive it w/ the LD Mk-ll is fine except I find it very small incremnet as versus using my HD-600 Sennheiser which gives more drive. Nevertheless, its still good to have the LD Mk-ll as a initial starting point. You may wanna consider getting some other headphones to partner with your LD Mk-ll and thus just use the Grado SR-60 for daily outdoor usage. (just my 2 cents)
  5. You can call up Lifestyle Shop 6734 3113 to check as they are the official showroom and customer center.
  6. Does the owner have so many ears to listen to so many wives?
  7. Hi dora-motor, sad to hear that you have since given up your home system. My home system after my major changes in 1995 till today, the speakers, amplifiers, DAC still working except with some small addition & subtraction. Even my HD-600 is 10 year old liao, sigh!
  8. You may wanna consider investing into a electric dry cabinet for all these valuable stuffs as I also did that for my more than 10 year old HD-600 & Grado SR-60. Over in Singapore is rather temperate country, not only those pads will deteriorate even those leather handbags, wallets, etc also not being spared. Also the power consumption is less than $1 a day. Initial investment into that dry cabinet depending on sizes but average $100 (you may store other stuffs like important CDs, tapes, old bank notes, stamps, etc)
  9. Those old flats in Ang Mo Kio not not that small as compared to those new flats in Punggol or Sengkeng (those bedrooms)
  10. Not really true for such a kinda amplifiers to work in any given 3 room HDB flats as I 'd came across a friend whom had a pair of Mcintosh XRT 26 & a pair of MC2600 600 watts power amplifiers in Ang Mo Kio back in 1995. Also another friend who had this pair of Legacy Audio Classic floor standing speakers 44 inches tall.
  11. Bose is more comfortable to wear over long hours whereas sound is rather average. Sennheiser is better in terms of sound but comfort wise not certain about their new models. Had used their old model HDC-451 simple headband type rather uncomfortable over long hours!
  12. If over the head, you may consider Bose, Sennheiser as they are very very regarded for their line of noise canceling headphones!
  13. Please be more precise in your words as that noise cancellation or noise isolation. Noise cancellation headphones are you referring those that passengers using on board the planes to cut engine noises? Basically Skullcandy is all about street style looks as versus sound quality in general. Given your budget there are quite a handful of choices like Grado, Sennheiser, Audio Technica, etc that will give your money worth.
  14. You may also wanna consider terminate with XLR canon plug as it has locking as versus RCA plugs.
  15. My HD-600 since 10 years ago till today still working fine with its stock cable! Of course by changing the cable will sound this or that better, but on the other hand be cautious on your spending for the cables. Its like spending for speaker cables in hi-fi setup! There should always have a ratio or budget as over spending may or may not be substantial as if you guys come across those who spent for their hi-fis always set aside a ratio appx 20-30% for the cables. (and it still works till today)
  16. Just follow your heart! Believe in those more established company's brand & track records!
  17. Even the most acclaimed Audio Techinica Onto ON3's design had been adapted by so many of those manufactures! (the invincible hair band) Basically all those accessory wholesaler/importer always look upon the masses to off load all the cheaper range of earphones/headphones! If you guys observe, these couple of years there are so many name brands pop up into the market as compared to 10 over years ago whereby I still recalled standing at the shop wanting to buy a pair of sennheiser headphone but nobody seems keen to serve me! (small money) As during that period of time, MP3 still haven't take off in the market! Nowadays you guys considered lucky to be spoil with choices!
  18. Put it this way, all those factories in China mainly just copy the mold that's all. In fact there are some good manufacturers like Voiceao, nanssin, ovvan, etc. If you guys ever been to Hong Kong Global Sourcing Exhibition or ShenZhen walk around, you will not be surprise to see all sorts of look alikes!
  19. If you're new generation music listener, you may like it ! If you're serious listener especially into audiophile region or about to turn into an audiophile, I would say drop this idea! Price is not the main factor, the problem with it is the sound is rather tuned towards fast tempo musics which doesn't really emphasis like classical overtures, or jazz vocals! Hope with this explanation will help you to decide!
  20. What are the different ways to spot the major differences between the genuine & counterfeit ? As that the head-fi links seems to have error to load the pages! I'm sure this will benefit all ! Cheers!

  22. Martin Logon are Electrostatic ribbons Apogee are ribbons Maggie are planar ribbons
  23. "Maggie" their nickname! It also requires quite somehow of power to drive them well! Magneplanar as the name suggest that they are planar speakers. Some wise is very wide, very spacious except the lower region (bass) If compared to Apogee, it's pretty hard to draw the line clearly but Apogee speakers are ribbon!
  24. Omni & uni direction almost same meaning as pick-up polar pattern are almost 360 degrees (correct me if I'm wrong) whereas if you see directional mic that means they are cardioid approximately less than 160 degrees ! If I wasn't mistaken B & H Trading is distributing the Zalman products!
