  1. Since you live in Spain, I won't be able to help you. Perhaps email Grado top find out who the distributor is the way to go. You'll be able to audition before you buy which is important for me YMMV. In Europe the Earmax Pro should be available. Get the pro version not the standard version - it does a better job. If buying off the internet then try headroom or Corda. Both manufacturers offer crossfeed which is useful. BTW which Grado Headphone do you have? I ask because the recommendations for amps can get expensive and if you have an SR-60 or SR-80 a portable amp maybe all you need.

    CD Players

NAD now makes more then budget components (its Master Series is quite upmarket). As such I dont know whether you're looking for a budget player or an upmarket one. Alternatives are: 1) Dugood Glory Year (abt S$650) (nice 16BIT player) 2) Spark (Cayin) CD-15B (about $750-800) 2) Sugden CD21 (on sale now at S$1800) 3) CEC TL53Z (about $2,300/2400) - fantastic transport for later upgrades with outboard DACs
  3. Many moons ago I had the OBH-11SE (the upgraded power supply came standard for the SE version). This was after reading Sam Tellig's review (if memory serves me right the whole review also mentions the Senn HD-600 pairing with a Musical Fidelity X-Cans. Both combos were recommended. Unfortunately I didn't like the Creek OBH-11SE (same with the regular Creek OBH-11). It sounded veiled and compressed esp when compared with the Grado RA-1. I do like the little battery powered RA-1. As for clone vs stock I think we will not be able to settle the issue because there's no way of knowing how the clone was made.
  4. Just try a different source, a CDP would be ideal. Then decide what needs changing.
  5. You don't need a pair of closed cans for home use (or maybe you do if your home environment is noisy). A very good all-rounder is the the AKG K701 or a Grado RS-1/RS-2 (you really should use these high end headphones with an amp). Upgrade your source something that encodes in lossless format. On an iPod (Apple Lossless) thru a line out to a matching amp to headphones should be the way to go.
  6. Hey if you can't hear the difference lucky you :-) Sadly I can even with my aging ears LOL If you want to hear the difference try this: On a reasonably good system use the freebie interconnects (the kind that you get with your DVD player/ TV etc) and some black and red electrical wire for amp to speakers. Then connect some branded cables (try Kimber) - don't buy it just borrow from a friend some low end Kimber interconnects and speaker cables. You should be able to hear the difference. Then just replace one set - either the RCA or speaker cables and again you'll hear a difference. Caveat: Expensive cables can actually make your system sound worse! Why? Well it exposes the weaknesses inherent in a particular system. Most folks don't have the time and patience to find the right cable/s for their system.
  7. BlackCatz, of course you can. Even with the stock iPod earbuds. If you have the space a good compromise is the Apple lossless format.
  8. loop and prince, Best to listen to it yourself using different amps. It's very easy to make any heaphone sound bad. For instance: 1) X-Cans + any Grado = Ear Bleed 2) Creek + Senn HD-600 = Lifeless music Of course some may like/prefer it bleeding or falling asleep - who am I to blow against the wind... Best to listen with your own music and decide.
  9. Hello princess LOL. Yes I have been a grado fan for many years. At one point of time I had all the grados - well almost all for an extended period of over a year (but not the GS1000 or the PS-1) I auditioned the GS1000 sometime back and I can say it is the best currently manufactured Grado. The only complaint I have is that my skin is allergic the foam pads. :-) Am also alergic to the foam that come with Etys ER-4. As such I have to stick to cans that have cloth or velor. Cheers
  10. Topic moved for obvious reasons. Rameish
  11. Topic moved. Would appreciate it if you could post in the relevant forum. If you're looking into a PC source then it's here. If you're looking for a DAP source then it should be posted in portable audio. Otherwise people will start recommending full-fledged CDPs, SACD players etc. It also helps to post what's your budget. For instance at S$680 the Dugood Glory Year CDP seems to have a small following. I would recommend that you try it for yourself - if you are looking for a budget CDP for home use.
  12. I think you meant blew you away "cough cough LOL"
  13. Hope it doesn't have any viruses! LOL Blame hollywood for my paranoia.
  14. Thank you. Here's wishing all of you a very good year ahead.
  15. Yeah it was real nice to see some old faces and meet some new ones. Or shall I say put a face to the nicks. As always I enjoyed the company more than the equipment :-)
  16. bpribadi, Were can one get Koss products in sg? Need some replacemnt pads for my KSC-35
  17. Err... a 100 Quid is £100 ie S$300. I think you may mean a little over S$100? What about the iGrado? They are under S$100 a piece and come in black and white. A bit goofy looking for my tastes but hey I'm 45 so it doesnt count right? LOL
  18. I would like to report :-) that there isn't much if any difference between the 2. The music files were uncompressed and the headphones were the venerable Beyer DT431. The iPod Classic is however much much nicer looking and way thinner. Not a review but just my and lengcm's 2¢ worth.
  19. Blues, Contrary to popular belief, not all my grey cells are dead LOL. What! you lost touch with the T-man! I thought you guys were bosom pals! Guess you broke up huh...cough cough :-) Sorry couldn't stop myself.
  20. This is a for sale thread. Lets keep it that way okay?
  21. Blues' original nick was guyferd then it was cookie and now blues. So I guess his full nick would be guyferd cookie blues LOL
  22. Yes I'm still here obviously and I still do listen to headphones sometimes but my gear is all dated like the Beyer DT931 Senn HD600 with a Corda HA1 LOL. I do miss the people though... many nice guys who have become friends. Most of all I miss the friendly atmosphere when discussing gear. Even the then young ones were nice if a bit shy LOL.
  23. Happy birthday buddy. Hope you're still around and enjoying music. Whatever you do dont mod a stethoscope with an IEM LOL
  24. A minimum of 4-6 inches clear space all around in a non enclosed area (ie not in a cupboard) should be sufficient. Children normally do not touch the tubes if you explain it to them clearly.
  25. Jazz is quite a wide and often misunderstood term. It's roots date back to both folk and blues music and also includes "pop" of a bygone era. It's basically improvisation of music where the musicians often go off on tangents depending on the mood. In a sense it's having fun with music. This can also be done by vocalists. Bossa Nova is one latin branch of Jazz. Hardcore Jazz: Miles Davis/John Coltrane Bossa Nova: answered already in the posts above Pop Jazz: Ella/ Louis/ Billie/ etc Cuban Jazz: Fusion Jazz: Yuch phui! Sorry :-)
