I can't quite put into words why I disliked it. I tried it the first time at somebody's house, then later when a colleague bought a pair I had it for 2 days. Still didn't like it. It's a matter of individual taste however, I know people who hate the Etys and DT250s as well.

I can imagine all right. Worse if you're on a bus with TV Mobile($#@!!) Unfortunately, the only cans I've found so far that work in such an environment are the Etys and DT250s, both of which are not cheap. I've tried a colleague's px200 but just didn't like it. I'd advise against using open headphones on a noisy bus and pushing the volume up to defeat the surrounding noise. Not going to be good for your hearing.

I shall volunteer, out of the goodness of my heart, to be the tester. I will watch movies on your system with all the pooh bears and determine the sonic differences, if any, that result from changing the number of bears. The testing shall be long and hard, all I request is that you keep the pizza, coke, and popcorn replenished. P.S. Not forgetting BK Rudolph and friend of course, on their respective speakers.

You have a point...but the problem with buying used discmans is the: 1. Warranty usually expired, so you're screwed if it just happens to break down. I know someone who had to pay a lot to replace the remote. 2. Regardless of cosmetic appearance, you really have no idea what kind of abuse it has gone through, like rough use or being exposed to water, bodiliy fluids etc. See No.1 3. There could be certain functions or menu options that actually do not work but by the time you realise it, too late. Or the player could just be a bit temperamental. Good luck trying to get the seller to fix the problem. For peace of mind, just cough up the extra $50 or so to get a shiny brand new player with 1 year local warranty and save yourself a lot of potential grief. Really. P.S. I was with cmk looking for the imp400. We were both going to buy it buy as it turns out there was only 1 set left. Damn! The boss is ordering another set for me.

kuku, at this rate you're going to ask questions until your feathers drop off and nothing is ever going to be done, so here's my 2 cents: If you want your new headphones fast: 1. Put your cmoy and portable player in your pocket/bag. 2. Go to Hung Brothers at Sim Lim Square. 3. Ask to try out the different headphones there using your cmoy and portable player. 4. If you find something you like, buy it. 5. If you want to consider other options, go down to Music by Design at the Adelphi. 6. Ask to audition the Grados using your cmoy and portable player. 7. If the Grados don't suit you, go back to Hung Brothers and buy what you were happy with there. If you're willing to be patient: 1. Go to the sgh meet. 2. Try out all the headphones there with your cmoy and portable 3. Then go buy whatever you liked at the meet. Do some of your own research and legwork. Don't be lazy and expect everything to be handed to you on a silver plate. Nobody will know for sure if you'll like the sound of any particular headphone.

My friends and I like to comment on movies too.......AFTER we finish watching them. Thank goodness we're on different continents! You people really help to boost DVD sales.

Yeah! I agree! I thought the point of going out for a movie is to relax and forget about all your personal problems in the first place! You also get this kind of people when you go on overseas holidays. Oh, and just to add something that's relevant to this thread, I do remember the old Capitol cinema being not very good for movie watching. The reason is that sound from outside leaks into the theatre. I remember watching a movie there many years ago. I was totally immersed until suddenly I head raining from outside, and some motocycles racing by. Completely spoiled the experience.

I think all the cinemas are generally okay, none of them bad enough to hate. I only hate other cinema goers. Those %$##@ who refuse to turn off their handphones and actually answer all their calls, those #$%* who turn up late, those #$%&* who seem to to the toilet every 30 minutes, those #$%&* who give a running commentary to their friends while watching the movie instead of keeping their traps shut...etc etc etc etc. My favourite time to go to the cinema is on weekdays to catch morning shows, when its practically empty and I have my choice of seats. Every now and then I take leave to do that.

Just to add my 0.5 cents... The grados are marvellous for heavy metal/rock. Because that's the kind of music I find myself listening to more often these days when commuting, the Etys are taking a break while my sr80s have been getting plenty of use. I take back what I said about them not being suitable for portable use. I've actually gotten quite used to them. Because of the open design, I have to turn my volume knob to the 8 o'clock position. With my Etys it's 7 o'clock. This is with a headsave tempo(pimeta) with the gain set at 10. So, if you like this particular genre, you might want to audition the sr60 and sr80s at music by design. If not, then look at the other options available(px100, px200, porta pros blah blah blah etc).

Not exactly cheap, but the interface is very user friendly and I've had no problems. my tempo porn pictures are hosted by myphotospace, I didn't upload them to the forum. If you really want to save money, you can have 2 or more guys sharing the same account. Just create individual folders to upload to so you don't get your stuff mixed up. At the end of the day, if nobody wants to pay for photohosting, we're all going to see loads of red 'x's, broken links etc all over the place(look at head-fi and other forums). No such thing as a free lunch.

If you have a problem with reaching into your bag to turn off the ipod, perhaps its best you get a pair of earbuds instead, and use the sr80s at home. P.S. yes it will look weird, but its meant to be tucked into the bag where people can't see the coiled cable, I'm not suggesting you let the coil hang out of your bag.

coil up the long cable(using the palm of your hand as a reel) to the required length, then use a couple of cable ties to secure it in place. tuck the coil into your bag(I'm assuming your ipod is in some kind of bag, and not in your pocket.

Dude, just make sure you call and ask for an audition before you go down, to make sure that they are open. they're very nice people, I sat on their sofa and listened to the sr80s for nearly 45 minutes and I was never disturbed the whole time.
