Mackie 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Guy, I will never say never to corda. Who knows? I may end up with another headphone setup in the bedroom....now that I own the Eggo 66. Mat, if U reading this, I've decided to buy it.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 The eggos will work great even without an amp (unless your portable player is really crappy in the first place) so you don't need to bring so much stuff with you on the move like jogging, brisk walk, shopping. I prefer it to the Koss KSC-35 as I find there is something lacking with it although the eggos are far from perfect. Not that the Koss is bad I just prefer the eggos. Unamped. Amped however, its a closer thing for me.
Rameish 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 I haven't tried the eggos (and they may be real good) but for my money, it's the Sony 7056 for budget closed cans and Grado SR-80 or 60 for open cans. The Etys are nice but not in the same paice cat. lah. Anyways, I'll only get Etys if I need ultra portability and isolation. I don't think they fit my ear canal very well. Hmm,,,maybe I'll visit my dads hearing aid specialist and get a ear mould done LOL.
N@Z 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 They both sound totally different to each other, which sounds better depends on preference. The eggos probably has more midrange & a slight mid bass hump. The 7506's bass goes really low & sound brighter. Personally I prefer the 7506 for watching movies. As the bass impact has more oomph whereas the eggos for music in general. One thing I don't like with the eggos is the 'splashy' highs on some recordings. No complaints whatsoever when listening to the etys other than the cable microphonics. tee 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Hi Mackie, So are you recommending a "Buy" for V2 and "Sell" for V1 ? What about V3 ? Any preliminary market intelligence and assessment ? My fingers are itchy again.....after triggering on the HeadBox and T-2A, looks like EMP is on the line. Heard that a Naim Headamp has just been put onto market at Singnet. Is it worth while to audition ?

Barradio 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Heard that a Naim Headamp has just been put onto market at Singnet. Is it worth while to audition ? Hi tee, the Naim Headamp are ok only need to mod the "crap DIN input cable" and aslo need good input source. If got money to spare get a better PSU.
fishball79 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 A naim fanatic told me to get a $1k power supply with the headline... if can the $6k one... super cap was it? Crazy prices to me
matbon0013 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Naim basically are design to work best with it's own designed/independent power supplys. The Headline would benefit alot with a NAPSC, HiCap and to the most extreme a SuperCap power supplies. As a stand alone headphone amp the Headline is alot to be desired even in it's the latest incarnation. But as I said with proper P/S unit the Headline is commendable! Albeit the source equipment it top notch and your line stage is absolute 'Flat Earth'. Just my two cents!

Is it worth while to audition ? Hi tee, Hard to sell the V1 unless some newbie wishes to pick up a headamp cheaply. I reckon my strategy will be "Hold" for V1 and "Buy" for V2. However, this is just a passing thought as I'm not prone to upgradetis.
lengcm 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 The forthcoming V3 may see a flurry of V2 in the used market....suits my plan to pick up one of these as I'm still using the V1. (Unless my market analysis turns sour...... ) Excellent choice Mackie, with a change of tubes and capacitors, you will be shocked at what the X-cans v2 can do. BTW, if you want, you can audition it when I audition the A3 Cd player
