  1. some personal favourites of jpop. Judy And Mary - defunct punk/rock/electro group who were huge with a female lead who sings with a chilling voice. Zard - group-turned-solo Izumi Sakai with catchy melodies. Huge in japan too. electro/rock/pop style of music. She also known as the goddess of Darkness i think. 刚本真夜 - a one-woman-show for her album. Not very big in japan but i love her songs, catchy and very nice arrangment done to the songs. Nice vocals too----thats if u like Gigi Leong style. many many more to recommend but above are the ones that i can remember as of now. One more thing, some of the artists dosent have very good recordings like Zard. But then again, they make good music which makes up for it at least.
  2. I got a couple of them through RS. Some like the AD8610 might be more difficult cause they need to use brown dogs adaptors. Others will have to order online liao. I was a huge ryoko fan(hence RKO) since her first pictorial album(RR & RH) Not exactly beautiful, but charming. Not much news of her ever since her baby boy was born. i dint max out the amp, wanted to but i short ordered 3 stackable buffers. So now my current configuration is like 3 buf 634 in hi-c. 2134 for3/4 and opa 604CA. And yeah, gonna let it run for a couple of hundred more hours. The SMVIII took about 400hrs too before it started to shine.
  3. woot, bro. Have to agree that the smV IV has a big soundstage but i still find the bass not tight enuff. I had to change from the opa627 to AD744 to compensate to my taste.lol But how long did u take for the bass to tightened up, cause mine had less than 50 hours through it. One more thing, i think the new amp has a more laid back feel compared to the SMVIII

  11. OT:you play R/C too? i playing with Mini-z anyway........you are ll right ipod users go for ipod cos they look cool ya, used to play mini-z too at the old place opposite SLT. before i moved on to the bigger scales.
  12. How about the idea of "I'm cool cause i use an ipod" + "i'm cool cause i'm an audiophile" sounds? It depends on the marketing strategy grado uses. If it really works, then i wonder how many users will actually appretiate the sound of the cans.

    CDP and I.C

Hi guys, got a Cambridge Audio 640C Ver.1(black colour) and an Qed Qunex Silver Spiral 1m to let go. For the CDP, letting go at $300-negotiable. The I.C for $80. Exterior conditions are super for both. Only thing with the cdp is i find the eject button a bit weird . I have to press it a a certain angle then can eject. but then again, i use the remote most of the time. No tracking problem what so ever with the cdp. reason for selling, got 2 pairs of the cable and upgrading my cdp to transport+DAC. Pls contact me at 98517622. Self collect near geylang, and can have an no obligations audition if u like. cheers The I.C sold, CDP still available.
  18. I must say i had a great time at AA. Thanks to Mackie and Anything Audio for allowing the meet to happen. It was a rare chance to audit so many different cans, amps and cables at one time. BTW, the silver supermacro there was running on an AD744 opamp, it's output biased and force into class A. Seems like i'm not the only one that prefers the PA2V2 over the SMV3. The SR-71 was fantastic too, a refined version of the PA2V2. . Yes, the K1000 was fantastic, wonder how it would sound if crossfeed. The DT150 was also super on the detail. The setup with the MingDA amp taught me how Bass can be projected, me being a clarity and detail guy. Through this meet, i finally realised one thing. There is no all-round can. Each cans hold its own rights in its way. Senns for vocals, AKG for the exact imaging etc..... Thanks again!

  21. i'll love to have 1 piece please. thanks alot.
  22. dear idkfa, Thanks very much for ur reply, it is very comforting to know that someone might have an idea of what i am going through. Perhaps i am not sure how to express myself. I am currently using the AD744, which i quite like the way the frequencies are amplified. What the ad744 in the smv3 lack is that the sound is not revolving around ur head. It has a very narrow soundstage, although the imaging is great/precise. Very much like listening to front speakers. The PA2V2 is much wider, very similar to a surround system-and i love it. This really gets me involves in the music. May i know if this is known as forwardness/laid back? And frankly, i do like synthesize sounds very much, especially those high treble notes. So, there are virtually no classical in my cd collection. For the batteries, i have been using the GP batteries, which does have a higher current/voltage output than any batteries i have tested on the market. Though i believe this is not the source of the problem as i had use the included transformer with same results. Will be testing with a regulated power supply somtime later once i get back from my overseas trip. Btw, my system goes like this, DEJ-2000(Europe,using power supply)--VEN DEN HUL 102MK3/cheapo silver cable----smv3/PA2V2---ER6is/Sr-60 I like experimenting with cables alot, and i do hear difference in some of them. Same goes to my PDCP with or without the power supply. Any more meet to exchange and test out different equipments/tweaks?
  23. Hi everyone, i would like to ask a favour from u guys. See, i was using the PA2V2(from the MO) for a couple of weeks and i really like the way it sounded. On impulse, i got a XIN smv3, thinking it will be much better than the PA2V2. On the first listen, it sounded great. But as a couple of days went by, i just felt that i prefer the PA2V2(great highs, lows and airy sound). The smv3 just didnt come close to the PA2V2. I gave the smv3 maybe a 100 hour burn-in time, changed the op-amp, and i still prefer the PA2V2 over the smv3. And u know the price difference between the 2. Thus, i'm suspecting there is something wrong with my smv3, but i dont want to sent it back to xin then return saying there is nothing wrong with the amp. So, could anyone with these 2 amps, kindly tell me if my ears are correct, or my equipment is faulty? I also notice that there is a very slight hissing sound from the smv3 when i am in a very quiet enviroment. Is there any kind soul out there with a smv3 that will allow me to check if there is any difference between my smv3 and his? Thanks, Sam
