Or is this a new tansport mech from Philips or has Marantz finally decided to use a Sony transport (doubt that though). I ask because you mentioned something about a better transport mech in the Rotel RCD-971 thread. From the size of the drawer unit I would say it's a customised job tray (just like in the CD17 and up). But I can't tell more than that. Marantz website is very Apple unfriendly. Rameish 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2003 (edited) Looks like a VAM1201 from the pic. But has 2 HDAM modules insted of the 4 on the CD-6000 OSE. Which tells me the CD7300 OSE will have four HDAM modules. I guess the main heart has had a transplant. Am not fam with this DAC - is it a dual dac or single? Mackie 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2003 (edited) Gees....hate to disappoint U guys but I've been pretty busy lately.....visitors from overseas and this weekend, in-laws will arrive from HK. I hope to be able to produce a proper assessment of the 7300 as it is. To compare it with CD17mkiii is difficult as I'll need to borrow Oak's set for a shootout. Transport : Philips VAM 2202 Philips VAM 1201 used in the CD6000 series Oversampling : 128fs or 128 times oversampling at 16-bit 44.1KHz HDAM : same circuitry as SA-12S1 sacd player DAC - Cirrus Logic CS4396; same as SA-8260 sacd player Caps : Mostly Elna and Panasonic Enough of burn-in, audition will be carried this weekend.
