  1. it will take you 4 days to clear your transaction. once thats done, there will be a 4 digit number in your credit card statement "paypay xxxx" if u check it online, otherwise must wait for bank statement. Once you enter, the limit is lifted. Quite troublesome but seems pretty logical from a security point of view... No lah, just call your credit-card customer service, ask for this particular transaction for paypal and request for the xxxx number. Think the customer service officer already numb with such requests, gave it to me straight when request for it. So do not need to wait till statement arrive. Cheers!
  2. Now should be quite cold. Bring more clothing. Die die must go dip into their hot spring. Shiok man! Also try the 'bitter tea' and the '4 diety soup'. Their roadside makan very good can also try.
  3. Items sold! Thanks for the interest. Mod, appreciate if can close this thread. Cheers
  4. Letting go very good condition Grado top of the range reference RS1 headphone and amplifier RA-1 headphone amplifier. Both with box and manual. The RA-1 is battery operated only. Both for $1k (fixed) Interested, do pm me your contact. Cheers!
  5. Great tip. What about cd-lens? What's the recommended product to clean those. A bit sceptical to use those cd-rom lens cleaner.
  6. Hi, I am glad someone brought up this topic. I also would like some feedback on similar topic but on different front. Will those below $250 or even $100+ budget/used dedicated cd player (without VCD/DVD) serve better as source compare to top of the line discman available in the market? Would the money be better spend on a cd player if portability is not a issue? For work, would u used a cd player as source or a discman to the headphone amp if space is not a constraint? The reason I am asking is that if discman is used, either an 1/4" to RCA adaptor is needed for connection to the headphone amp the 'cheapo' adaptor will affect the performance no matter how good the i/c is (if minijack is not available on the amp) and on the other hand, to use a cable that is terminated to that configuration. But how many 'good' cable manufacturer has that sort of cable and availability in the market or even a good minijack i/c compared to the many i/cs available in the market? Would'nt a cd player source solve this problem? Cheers
  7. I concur with Mackie on the strengths of the EMC-1. It's a marvellous machine to own and if you can match you system properly, you will find numerous hours of enjoyment. I does not have the privillege of hearing a MF A3 but from my colleague (fuwen who is also a sgheadphone member) who does own the player, and audited my system, he commented that the EMC-1 is definitely not a gentleman player as he thought it would be before the audition. The lowest I came across in the used market is also $2k sometime last year but without remote for a 24/96. For a MkII 24/192 not UP version was around $3k (sold within a couple of says!). $2k to $2.2k seems to be the fair market price for this beauty. If possible, try to get a brand new set due to the problems I had faced with the player. Other than that, no complains. If u should check the price of this player in the US used market, it's US$2k to US$3k! This is one analogue sounding CDP to get if you do not wish to get to the dark side. For me I prefer to play XRCD on the EMC1 than SACD on the 9000ES, the transparency, detail, sweetness, coherent sound and soundstage is all there. But word of caution, for bad recordings especially those so call remastered CDs quite popular nowadays, keep it away from the EMC1. The EMC1 will expose the bad recording such that it's unbearable to listen i.e. too digital sounding. On the other hand for good recordings (or audiophile grade) CDs, you will listen for hours! Does anyone play tweaks with your CDP? My EMC1 is supported on BDR cones resting on a BDR 'The Shelve' isolating board which is on top of Goldmund cones. I find this configuration gave me even more depth and weight in the music without too much airiness. Heard Mackie is now a non-believer of tweaks. Is that true? I have not heard a 24/96 EMC1 before. Anyone who have heard both care to comment? Mackie, have u considered to upgrade the DAC to 24/192 or wanting to perform the 'surgery' yourself? Cheers
  8. Did not try from EMC1 directly into the headamp but from int. amp tape out b4. However, the headamp then does not do justice to the source so cannot really comment.
  9. Mackie, let me know if you can get it. Itching for ages to upgrade the clamp. Tempting to find out how the the player can be improved further than current performance. Was quoted by HER to be around $300 to $400 but black available only.
  10. Take note of the acrylic panel. For my unit the navigation button got stuck twice while depressing it. Luckily mine was a new set from HER, so can get repair for free. Learn from HER that this is an inherent problem of EMC1-UP. Anyone got the spider-clamp for EMC1? Have order one for ages but no news.
  11. And you can upgrade the 24/96 to 24/192 for another $700 at HER! Worth every penny I must say. But hold your horses the silver version is coming out soon...
  12. Don't think so. This should be the EMC-1 MkI without the 24/192 upsampler (MkII) and the caps mods found in the EMC1-UP.
  13. Yep, being there earlier. Just the usual, not many great picks actually. Check out the Philips girls though but wear your sunglasses! Also try to audit the High End Research and the Absolute sound showroom, the system there cost more than a HDB 5-room flat. No freebie though. Enjoy!
  14. Congrats! Can celebrate with my daughter who is borned on Children's Day. Today, my wife just inform me she is expecting our second. So happy and delighted!
  15. Normally around US$10-15 for items less than 4 pounds by Global Priority. If by UPS or Fedex will be much more dearer >US$30. Had paid around US$35 for a BDR's "The Shelf" which weight around 10 pounds by global priority b4. But still worth it as 50% of local pricing.
